JSA to part time job question

Hey all, I'm currently in receipt of jobseekers allowance at a rate of 188 a week. As it's coming up to Christmas I've been handing around CV's and application forms to anywhere that'll take them but there's something I've been wondering.

I don't really care if getting a job with part-time hours results in me getting slightly less than what I'm getting now on the dole because hey, at least I'll be doing something. But if I get a job and am subsequently let go after Christmas and I have to go and sign back on, would I be getting the rate I was getting before or would I be considered a new claimant and be getting 100 a week instead?

One day I was in the welfare office and asked them if I got some work for a short period of time what would happen?
I was told that they would suspend my payment for a period of up to 8 weeks and once I finished working to call into the office and they would re instate my payment.
If you get part time work make sure that you work full days.
If you work for up to 3 full days a week you may be able to claim for the days you are not working using the casual docs.
If you work 15 hours a week but only work 3 hours a day you won't be able to claim this.

I would call into the welfare office and ask them what would happen if you were to get work to confirm the above. I would confirm that if you were not to get hours in work after Christmas that your payment would not change.
Also get the name of the person you speek to in regards to this.
If you get work I would let them know that you just want your payment suspended untill x date so you can sign back on after that date without having to make a new claim.

Hey OP, did you find out anything else about this?
I'm in a similar situation going to working part time 16hrs over 4 days for 5 weeks. It's unfair that it's done by 'days' worked. I'm on 144 but I'm assuming I will be back on 100 afterwards because I'm 22(?).

Technically worse off but obviously I want to work so I'm going to do it anyway :/
