1440p V 1080p for FPS and movie nights

Hi, I am in need of a new monitor, 27in or greater. The only games I play are the BF series and I do some picture and video editing. Is it worth going for a 1440p or am I better off getting a 1080p with superior refresh and response times ? Monitor will also double as TV
