    Hey all,

The deal to our lovely new home was closed last Thursday and went in on Thursday afternoon to find a string smell of gas in the hall and sitting room. The electric fire was switched off and there is another gas fire connection in the other living room (not used), the gas hob and the boiler. Called out the gas leak emergency guys on Thursday night who confirmed that there was a substantial leak and blocked the gas supply.

Friday I got a registered gas installer\plumber to check the gas fire connection that was turned off recently and he didn't find anything. He took up a couple of floor boards to see get lower down and it was coming up from the ground.

Saturday was spent drilling up the concrete around the gas fire pipe back to the main entry point of the gas into the house...still coudn't find the leak source.

We decided to avoid digging up our new house, we would cut off the original gas supply and run a new line outside the house back to the boiler...this will mean that we'll lose the possibility of gas fires (which we dont mind) and the mains power hob (which isn't a big deal either for us)

Just a horrible start we are without heating now and it is getting close.

I am going to start filling in the holes from the sitting room this evening to try get it back to normal...can I just pour cement in here or do I need to put in insulation with it because insulation came up with the stuff he drilled out?
