Hi I'm posting her for my daughter. She finished college before she turned 18 has now been on ja for a couple of months now. She's applied to lots of jobs, had a couple of interviews but nothing. She's also on a waiting list for a fas course.
Anyway the usual stuff no experience so barely getting a foot in the door for interviews and as I said is quite young so doesn't have the interview skills required hence trying to get a fas course in the hope that they'll brush them up.
Any tips or advice on getting a start somewhere, anywhere? Any schemes or courses to help in this way that we maybe haven't heard of? In dublin by the way

What did she do in college? Does she have an internship/relevant summer work experience?

Really depends on her qualification and the industry she wants to break into.

Springboard courses are good, OH did one in sandyford and they were amazing with cv, interview preparation and finding job vacancies.
I wouldn't bank on FAS being any help, they did OH cv when he was laid off first and it was beyond crap.
What sort of course did she do?

No experience whatsoever. It was just a year long travel and tourism course. Hard industry to get into especially being young and inexperienced. Tbh for most positions advertised she's too young to apply.
Therefore getting into that field has gone down in her list of priorities at this stage it's anything to gain some experience. (Also I feel to gain life experience to figure out what steps to take next towards the career she wants.)

Have to agreed on this, FAS offered to redo my CV for me, went back next day to collect, read it and they left out on every job what i actually did for the company, when asked, the reply was "would you like us to add that, and you can collect it tomorrow."
collected next day again, took it home ,wife read it ,she said, cant use it, to many spelling mistakes, so ended up using my original.
