i ve found them fine, I like newark - jersey gardens mall is right beside it and a great way to kill time and do some shopping en route home.

United are no better or worse than any of the other airlines to be honest.

What he/she said.. flew with them 6 times this year and not a single problem. Only issue I had was internal US flights had older in flight entertainment systems, other than that it was the same as flying with anyone else..

Just back from Orlando, flew Shannon - Newark - Orlando, all flights arrived on time or early, free transatlantic IFE was good, also had it on flight down to Orlando but not on the rtn leg to Newark.

The planes are a little cramped, two rows of three seats but thought the food was good

I would use them again, no problem

Opt for United Economy Plus - it really makes a huge difference - more leg room less of a cramped feeling. Most of the aircraft are fitted with AVOD .

I'll be flying with them next year as well, and had the same concerns initially (also following an awful experience with Delta a few years before). For those who've done that route (DUB - EWR, 9am-ish), did you go through immigration in Dublin? I have what I feel to be a fairly tight turn around in EWR (though it's within the realms of a through ticket), and don't want to get stuck in immigration while dashing for my next flight.

Someone else is booking my ticket and will only book economy. Do you know if there's an option closer to the time to upgrade to Economy Plus separately? I took a look on their website, but can't see how to do it in advance. I know in the US they're inclined to offer upgrades (for a fee) at the gate, but have never seen that done in Dublin.

Pre-clearance is done at Dublin for all EWR flights.

I wouldn't leave it til closer to the time as United Plus seats may be gone.

Try doing a dummy booking on their website and it will show what the seats are and how much they cost per leg.

Have had very positive experiences with United (and when they were Continental), nothing to worry about really!

the last time I did the newark to toronto it was a tiny plane, like 40 seats only - felt every bump and breeze but it's a quick flight. I think it was with Colgan Air, a united partner.

Had the same experince with Air Canada flying on a united code share. Tiny plane but for a short flight didnt mind.

If you can log into the website you should be able to view/book upgrades.. Or give them a call, I tend to ring as you can sometimes get better deals.. I was having problems booking one of my flights online. Booked it over the phone and it came out €290 cheaper than the website...

United is my preferred airlines and Economy Plus is one of the main reasons. Nothing to worry about plus the flight time is no too long, especially on the way back to Dublin.

Don't forget to sign up for United Mileage Plus to collect frequent flier miles since it is a long flights. You never know if they might add up to a free US domestic flight in the future or at least trade in the points for something else. Costs nothing to join like all the US airline and hotel points/loyalty programs.

    Enjoy the flight!
