    Hi guys,

Anyone experience of a6 or 5series estates? Wondering about extra road noise/ maneuverability of such cars. Need the flexibility of hatchback but don't want an SUV. Not interested in any other estate car. Cheers.

No difference in either, they're just more flexible. And better looking.

I'm running a 2009 E61 since 2010. Have it nearly 4 years now and still love it. I cannot think of any other car that does the job as well as it. It's comfortable, refined, economical and lovely to drive and has bags of space. I normally change cars every three years but I'll be holding onto this one for a while yet.

Extra road noise or maneuverability not an issue though parking not the easiest in the world. It is big and long but you get used to it and parking sensors are standard.

When I change it will be for a newer version of the same car or a newish A6 estate which I think is the nicest looking car in its class at the moment. Spec and service history are vital if buying either used. Leather, auto and sat navigation are desirable. Xenon lights would be nice also. Either way large estates are cool IMHO.

Thanks lads good to hear. Yea looking at latest versions of both. Like the audi interior but kinda leaning towards 'tidier' f11.

I have driven various versions of both cars and would strongly recommend either car.
Although avoid manual gearboxes in either car, buy as high a spec as possible and if possible buy a 6 cylinder car,

Just out of interest, why avoid manual? Any particular fault or technical reason?

To me manual gearboxes don't suit suit such a big car. Autos suit the comfort/character of a big estate. Makes for a much more comfortable and relaxing drive to have an auto.
