Hardwareversand Questions

Thinking of buying a new budget gaming PC from Hardwareversand and I have a few questions.

Do I need a new copy of Windows if I have an old broken laptop with Windows 7 on it? It has the code underneath on a sticker. My guess is I will but just making sure before I go fork out 90 quid on a new one.

The assembly is only €5? This seems very cheap, anyone have experience with them building it? And I heard I should pay for them to install the software just so they at least make sure it boots up? Anyone any information on this as I really don't want to go to the trouble of building it myself.

The assembly is usually €20 but they seem to often do the €5 offer. They will install most parts but some are too delicate to ship in that state, large CPU coolers for example.

If you want suggestions for a full build fill this in:

    1. What is your budget? [€xxx]

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming/Video editing/3D Modelling/HTPC/Internet] (If gaming include which games)

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [Yes/No]

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [Hard drive/DVD Drive/Case/PSU/etc.] (If possible state brand and model of the parts to ensure compatibility)

    5. Do you need a monitor? [Yes/No]

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [19'/20'/22'/24'/etc.]

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1920x1080/1440x900/etc.] [Yes/No]

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc.]

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Yes/No]

    8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser]

    9. When are you purchasing? [In x days]

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [South Dublin City/Cork City/Kerry/etc.]

You can get them to build it but, there have been a few people on here that have had issue's with them doing it. Building it yourself is not hard. By doing it yourself you'd be in a better position to fix it yourself if something were to go wrong down the road.

I was just mucking about on Hardwareversand and I noticed this under my basket:
    Factoring amounts at a glance
    amount 330,01 € + Shipping costs + 4,99 € = credit amount 335,00 €
    Whats the 4.99 about?

Don't pay for assembly, I assure you the feeling of knowing you built it is great.
Windows 7 is 50 euro on amazon

This is gonna sound kind of dumb but do I need to do anything special to get them to deliver to Ireland? When I try to put in my address it comes out in a weird format.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 626 ✭✭✭Seaaan

    Nope, just do it normally

Ok Cool, so it doesn't matter about the formatting?

Also, How can I pay? It just says bank transfer.....

They prefer bank transfer. If you chose paypal(there is a way to use it) you pay the fees(another 3%).

Yeah I decided I'm going to build it myself. This build looks fine?

Should I get a copy of Windows with it or will the key only from Amazon work?

Had one built for a friend awhile back was done very well with very neat cable management.

Sorry to thread hijack here, but as a matter of interest how do you pay via PayPal?

When I complete my order and it asks for payment the only option is cash(I do realize I can continue through that method and use bank transfer)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,101 ✭✭✭brianblaze

First order I think now has to be via transfer. As far as I'm aware it used to be first order over e500, but now I think it's all orders.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 616 ✭✭✭DisasterIRL

No, I've ordered quite a few things from them.

Emailed them about the problem and they told me I'm unable to pay via PayPal as I'm ordering from a different country. I thought this was strange as I've heard loads of people on here saying it's possible, but now that I think of it very few people actually used PayPal

We've used it 2-3 times no problem.

And was PayPal just an option in the payment section?

Anyone know if this keyboard is in UK format? And is this copy of windows fine as well? SB Version??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 231 ✭✭alex1997123

The Windows is the English version as far as I can tell but the keyboard is of German layout. All keyboards on Hardwareversand are of German layout

I just placed my first order and paid via paypal. 3 percent on top but not bad.

The only problem is my motherboard is now late for delivery....FECK!

If you're worried just shoot them an email to let them know. They might be a bit more lenient if parts weren't high in demand for other orders etc..

    Monday should be fine though.
