There's a bit of land near me that might be for sale near me. Is there a way I can find out if there are any restrictions on it in terms of SAC or other things that would limit me from improving the land?

    Google npws maps
It shows designated areas SAC's etc.

Had a look at it there now and there's nothing on it :) Are there any other sorts of habitat/wildlife/conservation type restrictions not shown on this map? It shows: SAC; Special Protection Areas;Natural Heritage Areas/ Proposed Natural Heritage Areas

Its fairly comprehensive I'd say. You can always get your solicitor to query the vendor as part of the purchase process whether the land is designated. Good luck!

npws site is fairly comprehensive. You could check myplan.ie as well. Also GSI website go to public viewer and then search by gazeteer you should get the maps up. Generally all the sites have the same information. Just make sure that whatever maps/websites you are using that you check the layers on the map to make sure all categories you are searching for are ticked off. I sometimes find it easier to untick all the layers and then add them back in one at a time you can see them added to the maps then.
