Bulls or heifers, suckled/bucket reared, what weight? Rough ballpark 2-2.20 per kg.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Blue. I know you mentioned before ya got 2.20 a kg for your angus bullocks. Do ya rear them from calves.

this angus scheme has left a few pound in them I would say.

Some lads don't mind. Personally I hate it.
We recently found that the iodine spray is great at clearing it up. A bit slower than Imravol but way way cheaper.
To be honest going by the trade they'll make about €1.80-2 a kilo. It's the worst age/size to be moving them at.

All sucklers here Tubby, keep all the angus heifers for breeding.

Blue, what do you breed them to?. Also, do you finish them or sell as weanlings?

Aubrac first time round, then blonde as a terminal sire. But if Icbf tells me that their maternal figures are greater than 150 they are getting aubrac with the hope of getting replacements.

Up to last year I was selling weanlings, but finishing now.

It would make more sense to arse around a few marts at this time of year and pick them up reared for the same or even less than what a lot of lads paid for them as sucks

I saw friesian weanlings in macroom mart yesterday 250kg €310 they were blocky friesians. In the main ring 500-650 kg friesians were struggling to make €7-800 many were unsold they were more Holstein type.

Sharpshooter. I see you are from Westmeath. Few good lads round to pick up calves for you if it doesnt suit you to go to marts every day.

If you need them quick, that prob the best answer. Most of them round E20 commission for buying and delivery.
Also, to avoid sickness, I would get them delivered straight after mart rather than back to dealers yard and then to you.

either that or done deal. good few calves on it last few weeks.
