    Hi guys
I recently bought a 2010 Ford Focus. Lovely car and I am very pleased with it overall.
Just one thing i have discovered lately that is driving me round the twist.
Every time i turn on the fan the AC comes on. This is only an issue lately as i now have to demist the windscreen in the mornings. But no matter what the other settings are this happens every time.
Is this normal or can it be changed ?
It seems ridiculous that i can have the heating up to the max and turning on the fan switches on the AC also.
    Any suggestions
    Cheers
    Jimmy

Well, first of all, AC is used to condition the air and remove moisture, not just cool. So it's no an issue to have the AC on with heat blowing - i.e. it's not a contradiction.

Not sure of the Focus, but on my cars, if you set the ventilation to the front windscreen it automatically turns on the AC to accelerate the clearing process. This is normal and makes sense. Is this what you're experiencing?

That is the way Ford have them, had a 2005 Focus and it was the same. You just have to train yourself to switch off the A/C every time you fidget with the ventilation and don't want the A/C on.

AC will help clear the windows faster as the air coming into the car will be dryer.

Why would you ever have the fan off though

    Thanks guys.
I wouldnt be using the fan in dry warm weather Ded Zebra as the windows would not be fogging up.
I will check your suggestion Ford Jedi.
Doesnt having AC on increase fuel consumption ?

Marginal increase in fuel consumption, but you need to use it regularly or the hoses will perish.

Run it for an hour a week.
