Probably the best modern day steeplechaser, bar Kauto Star in my lifetime. I'm fairly sure Sprintre Sacre will surpass both those in time though, but for today let's celebrate Sizing Europe and hope to god he wins.

Sprinter Sacre is already a superior horse than Sizing Europe ever was

    Absolute rubbish.

Talk to me in three years time

How many grade ones did Sprinter Sacre win over hurdles before going chasing?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,564 ✭✭✭kiers47

Im a massive fan of the horse but running him at 3m in down royal at 3/1 is just not my idea of a good bet. Good luck though but i just cant see it.

    :pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac:

Possibly the worst logic I've ever heard. And I'm sure everyone else knew I was referring to fences, Sprinter Sacre is far far superior

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,669 ✭✭✭Colonel Sanders

    That was 3 words

You lied to me Go Native. Why did you lie to me?

I dont know why they have tried 3m again. He just doesnt stay or show the same enthusiasm at 3m

Nothing in that race will be talked about as winners in March.Based on ratings First Lieutenant should have won by a few lengths and it seems to have been a very poor Grade 1 when a 154 can win hard held.

Did last year's tough campaign leave its mark on First Lieutenant? Very tame effort.

Fact is Sprinter Sacre isn't good enough to win a grade one over hurdles and fences, Sizing Europe was. That's fact not opinion.

Personally I think he's a Spring horse. Wouldn't be ruling him out just yet.

Fact is SS only ran in one Grade One as a hurdler as a weak 5yo. He travelled well & finished 4th in a red hot supreme

You're saying he isn't good enough to win a Grade One over hurdles. That's not fact.

You're actually embarrassing yourself on here yet again

Sprinter Sacre ran in a single grade 1 as a hurdler and in a single season. He would probably piss the champion hurdle if he ran in it.

    Shouda woulda coulda.

    Fact is he didn't.

Sizing Europe won grade one hurdle at his very first attempt, against previous champion hurdlers. Sprinter Sacre was third in his, against no horse who went on to be even placed in a champion hurdle. Simply not good enough.

A Freak over fences, but an average horse over hurdles. You have to be brilliant to do it at the top level over both codes. He simply wasn't / isn't capable.

SS was 3rd in the supreme, not 4th. Go back to school young lad

Let's deal with facts. He wasn't good enough to win a grade one over hurdles. He tried, he failed. That's what his cv says.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

Sure Flyingbolt couldn't win the Champion Hurdle the day after winning the Champion Chase. He clearly wasn't top class so.

He wasn't good enough at the time is right. But to say he is an ''average hurdler'' , what price would you have this average hurdler for the champion if he reverted to hurdles out of curiosity?

Wouldn't be surprised to see a much lesser SS this year as the BHA are cracking down bigstyle on steroid use and that's really going to effect chemical Nicky's horses. Long Run there showing what he can /can't do without the drugs...

Seriously are you simply trolling or actually that much of a dope?

It will be interesting none the les to see how SS goes this year without drugs. His talent alone should hopefully see him through, but it's going to be harder this time around.

Bit hard for any of the first four home from that Supreme to be placed in a CH considering 3 of the first 4 home all went over fences the following season and Spirit Son only ran once more before being retired this week!
