Honda is a beautifully built machiine. But I fear it'll be a very unremarkable drive with a 1.6 engine. Dont forget it's massive and heavy. The CX-5 is more a drivers CSUV. Real kick in it when you put the foot down and lovely responsive steering. I have driven the CX-5 but not the other two, I am only going by reviews / youtube videos of the others. I drove the 2.2 (150BHP) diesel engine. You can also get a 175BHP version but I am told that the 150 is so good that you might aswell save your cash and ignore the 175 option.
I'd seriously look at the CX-5 (Sport trim), and haggle satnav and extra warranty into the deal.

Just for perspective, its 40kg lighter than a Volvo S80 1.6d
Granted it won't be as aerodynamic as the volvo but I'd drive one anyway to see.

I dont know much about the CX-5, but i think the CRV is a league above the Rav4 these days, I've heard the Rav has gone down market a bit and downsized.

The CRV is full sized SUV and the 1.6 should adequetely pull it along.

Pulling it along is one thing, being able to live with it is another.

Surely it's better to get 2nd hand with a decent engine than get a crap engine for the sake of the new reg ?

11.2 seconds 0-100 kph , is that good enough ? Now it isn't just about 0-100 it's about having power when you need it.

The 2.2 is 9.7 seconds 0-100 kph but it's 7k or so more expensive, one reason I would not buy new to sacrifice having a decent engine.

Buying new is not worth the interest and depreciation. But each to their own.

Our 00 2.0L petrol 150 hp has a 10.5 second 0-100 and I wouldn't have anything less powerful to be honest.

the main problem with the cx5 is the small back seats...otherwise its a great car to drive

God I have to say, I am 6'6" in bare feet. Some will be familiar with my posts about trying to find a vehicle that fits me. The CX-5 was one that worked well for me. I sat in every seat, I found the back seats absolutely spot on.

Is the Santa-Fe petrol or diesel?

Look at the torque figures of the diesel CRV versus the Santa Fe and see the difference then.
