I would love to get people's opinion on rebuilding the engine of my tractor. I was thinking of doing it as it is getting almost impossible to start in the morning has anybody done it does it help with starting also is there any other thing that could be done to help make it Easier to start

I wonder would the hard starting be lack of compression in the chambers or just a bad starter avoid the easy start sprays as they are bad for engines but use sparingly if you have to use them .Rebuilt the engine in my 398 a few years ago and it starts flying every time now. Even during the real cold winters she started up. How many hours are on the tractor, I think most ford engines go porous after something like 5000 hours. Did you change the clutch at all

Get a high speed geared starter and you wont look back. Had same prob with 7810, different tractor now.

would you consider having the block machined out to take a pressed in liner when you are at it? would mean you don't have to worry about it ever going porous.

getting someone to do it might be an issue. My mechanic is great but he's serriously overworked

Lads dont want to work in small country garages. Crazy hours and every type of machine under the sun.
Dealerships are a peice of cake in comparison

I'd second the idea of getting it bored and relined.

I'd give Power Bros in Ferns a ring on that and have one years warranty.

Limited work for your mechanic - just have to take the block out.
