Getting a little fed up with the limescale at home, and I am on the verge of buying a softening system.

Can anyone recommend one that they may have purchased?

I got mine from EWT. I have it a year and it works a treat for me.

I see they often have half price offers on?

Do you mind if I ask how many in your household, and the total cost of it? (PM me if you don't want to publicly give amount).

Did you get one of their 'Gold' range?

There is 4 in my house and it back flushes every second night. The cost was €600 and something euro's can't remember what the something was.

The "GOLD" range is new I have the one before that.

I noticed the difference after about 2 weeks of using it.

Why are you buying one out of interest? I notice our kettle has a hard crust around the lid after about 2 yrs. Is that the same problem you have?

Did you know that if you buy off EWT you have to pay for a maintainance contract every year otherwise its not worth a damn.
I don't have one but have looked around at different places.

Because my house is riddled with limescale.:(

Our shower and taps are constantly scaled over, the kettle is ruined, I'm fed up buying descaler and water filters.

I use a water filter with a 60 day double life filter, which lasts me 3wks, not 8 weeks! Thats how bad our limescale is. So every 3wks I descale the kettle and change the filter. If I wasn't using a filter, I would say I would ruin a kettle every month.

And God knows what damage its doing to the pipes in the heating system and the washing machine? A lot I'd say.

    Hence the water softener.

One thing to note. The softener will actually condition your plumbing system over a number of week's.
After it "cleaned" the inside of my cylinder and coil it revealed a pinhole leak on the coil which caused the heating system pressure to drop. This did not show up as a leak because it was inside the cylinder.

I was not too concerned because I was removing the cylinder a few weeks later to upgrade my heating system.

    Just to be aware.
