    Hi guys,

I would be interested in buying a few acres of land. Looking at the prices about 3 Acres would cost €10000 on average.

My question is how could i get a return on this purchase?

I would not be "Farming" on the land, I wonder does anybody have information on how to generate small amounts of income each year from small amounts of land?

What are the annual costs of having land, i.e. insurance etc?

Is renting to farmers for graze lands the typical thing to do?
Are there any other ways to generate income from the land? I have heard of things like growing trees and selling to loggers after 15 -20 years etc anything else along those lines?

What are the legal limits to using the land? i.e. can you open it up to camping/shooting etc or does that come under commercial land?

Please no comments about how there is no money in it, I will buy land regardless for personal use I would just like to keep my options open.

Plant it with trees. 270euro a hectare for 20yrs tax free.

Rent it to neighbour. 150-200 an acre

Get it rezoned n flog it after few years! ( big tax bill here now though)

U ain't gonna get much more outa it farming wise.
Unless u come up with an alternate use.

Maybe rent plots to the townies for veggie off it. Not sure if u need planning.

As a long shot buy bank shares with the money instead. They will never be as cheap again for a generation

buy a house for 30k and have rent of €400 a month

You be farming a lot of acres to make 400 profit a month out of farming

And at 10k an acre not much room for capital gain, where a house has potential

He won't get that grant if he isn't a farmer.

Please tell me where you are seeing this 3acres of land for 10000. I think you are coming at it from the wrong angle. Why buy something with no definite plans for it and then try come up with things to justify it's purchase?
