Its coming up to timing belt change time for me, last time I got it done up north (from a recommendation here) and was very happy with the deal I got, is there anyone in Dublin or south (wicklow) that can be recommended. I was hoping to spend about 250 euros?

No way you'll get a VAG TDI belt done properly at that price. The parts bill alone for the full service is about that.

Should mention I'll be supplying the parts, its just to change the belt.

350 all in parts included from a main dealer like pilsen. Thought it was a fair price

You will get a better deal by getting a garage to supply and fit IMO.

How much are the parts costing you?

This isnt too old so Im not really reviving some long lost thread, and the 350 might still be valid, 350 for the timing belt on a 1.9 Tdi?, Im assuming would that be including the water pump also, Ive read they have plastic impellors?
I cant imagine this would be done without changing the auxillary belt or at least the aux belt wouldnt cost much to buy, it needs to be refitted anyway so no point in doing old one.

its near being on the cards and Im not keen on driving up the north for it myself for a number of reasons.
Any better prices with a good independant? any recommendations for a good independant?
My concern is of along the lines of warranty with an independant? which is the main reason Id consider going to Skoda, or Id have a go myself, although that in itself brings some problems, buying the cam tool, doing it outside, and for me, at least a day of work, maybe more.

Recommendations for a skoda timing kit make/brand? more for enquiring what will be fitted, and what would skoda use themselves?

Got my own timing belt done by Gerry Barber in Santry a few weeks ago, peugeot 406 td. Supplied my own parts and the bill was 250 for labour. Would have been finished on the same day as well if I'd bothered my arse to get out of bed earlier.

Couldn't recommend him enough. He is in north dublin though!

Oh and that was a timing belt kit plus water pump, I also had a new crank sensor that needed fitting which probably added a tiny bit to the labour cost too.
