When this fela gets out can he be put on a publicly viewable sex offenders registry, permanently electronically tagged and undergo continuous monitoring by the Gardai and parole board please.

We have an appalling record in this country when it comes to dealing with the perpetrators of sexual assault against children. We simply don't take it seriously enough.

I'm not talking about a 17 year old guy who has sex with his 16 year old girlfriend, or a fela streaking or other kinds relatively innocent things.

This guy has been doing unwanted sexual stuff to girls and women for over 30 years (that we're aware of). He's clearly not a safe man to have around girls/women. We as a society have to protect children from this nonsense and we're obliged to do all we can to ensure this man cannot assault again.

In cases like this, I suggest a place for paedophiles.

He was sentenced to three years with one suspended by Mr Justice Paul Carney in the Central Criminal Court in February 2000.

It was appealed by the Director of Public Prosecutions on the basis of leniency and increased to a six year term.

Daly had pleaded guilty to attempted rape and indecent assault charges relating to two young girls on dates from 1980 to 1984, and to aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault on a 62-year-old woman on dates from 1997 to 1998.

I wouldn't usually go down this route but for a repeat offender who preys on the young and old, castration is the only job.

Some judges seem to be very lenient when it comes to sex offences

    strange isn't it

Well, former judge Curtin had the book thrown at him didn't he, and it certainly wasn't a "Kama Sutra 4 Kidz" type book.

Paul Carney again. Why am I not surprised? That man is a danger to society with his ridiculously lenient sentencing on sex crimes.

No he cant. The Gardai can monitor him but that is all, but these guys remain invisible to the public irrespective of the severity or frequency of the crime

There is an argument for and against but I think if someone is a repeat offender they should on a public list

Without taking away from other serious sexual assaults I think repeat offenders that show a very high chance of re offending should be monitored in some way shape or form for life.
I'm not easily annoyed but a fela who has been caught doing sexual stuff to children and women multiple times for over 30 years is a bad person that doesn't deserve to be involved in an open society. He's just going to touch more children when he comes out, it's scary like.

Anybody convicted of sexual crimes should be monitored and tagged for the rest of their lifes repeat offenders should be castrated and I also think we should have a system like they have in the US where you can check on a website the number of convicted sex offenders in the area

I can remember at the time some people around the town were actually standing up for him saying he paid his debt to society oh he won't do it again and should be allowed to live in the town.

    Last week
    Two completely different Michael Murray's.
If their ages didn't show you that then the list of convictions mentioned at last weeks sentencing should have.
