just wondering,to qualify for rent allowances you must have been renting privately for six months in the past year.how is somebody on jobseekers realistically supposed to find a place to live if this is the case, and how can one find a job without somewhere to live.? I've been in touch
with citizens info and they've basically told me there is no way around this.any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can also apply for the council housing list, once you have been approved you are entitled to RA.

thanks for the reply, but I've been down that road.and i have been told the same thing as citizens advice told me.also, rent rate in my area hovers around the 600~650 mark.as somebody on 188per week its impossible to firstly save 1300 for month in advance plus deposit to get a set of keys to a place, and then pay at least 150 per week for 6 months.

I don't know what to tell you other than to fight to get onto the council housing list, if you can't afford 6 months rent then that is the only other way that you will get RA.
