Half Marathon training

    Hi all,
I'm looking to do a Half sometime early next year and looking for any pointers/improvements to what I'm doing at the moment.

Been 'running' 2.5 years and my diet is good, don't think there are any issues there.

Currently I'm running 4 days per week and cycling once (cycle is anything from 1-2 hrs)
    The runs are as follows:-
1 'free run' of 20-30 mins. No pressure, I just go at a comfortable pace and really enjoy it.
    2 speed sessions which typically would be either 14 x 300m, 18 x 200m, 6 x .5mi, or 3 x 1mile. Sometimes throw hills into that for the craic.
1 long run of around 10k, maybe a bit more.

As for times, my last 5k was 27 mins, last 10k was 54 mins, and did a (windy!) 10 mile in 1:31

Obviously I'll need to start increasing the long runs, but any other advice would be appreciated.
For a start I'd guess more miles in general per week?

    Thanks :)

Very heavy on high intensity running for me to be honest I think you should look to turning one of them speed sessions into a tempo and start increased your easy running around these.

I would imagine there is huge drop off between your 5k/10k times?

That sounds good, makes sense thanks.

There's damn all difference between 5/10k pace, something I'm starting to work on. I've been running at the same pace no matter what the distance.
Think that was a combination of fear of keeling over and general inexperience. I've started tackling that and am getting used to pushing myself a bit now.
I ran 5k three whole minutes faster than usual a few months back with a friend in my ear pacing me. So I can do it, it's just a confidence thing.
