    Hi
Since yesterday maybe even sunday even though I didn't notice it,the clock on my computer keeps showing the wrong time and everytime I reset it to the correct time it will never actually stay correct, I've tried setting it correctly in the bios and through the settings in windows but no good

    any ideas?

    I'm running windows 8.

    thanks.

Check your time zone settings. (Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes)

Or disable Windows Time service. This will prevent Windows from phoning home to momma and asking for the time. ;)

I was afraid of that :( I've only had the computer since end of july though.

What times does it change you, hours ahead or behind but correct minutes or everything is wrong?

Don't worry, battery is easy and cheap to replace on most boards. //..though I doubt it, sounds more like it's "phoning in" as Torquay mentioned above and getting the wrong time

Time servers, and NTP and it's simpler cousin, SNTP, the protocols used for time synch, know nothing about time zones or summer time. They simply return GMT (or more correctly UTC) all the time to everybody everywhere.

It's up to the machine using the time value received from the server to modify it according to it's own local time zone and summer time (DST) settings.

More than likely the OP has the wrong time zone selected and/or has the option to automatically adjust for DST turned off.

Well I had to correct it again last night at midnight and when I turned it on just there it was still at the 00:34 and once it gets to 00:59 instead of going to 01:00 it will go to 00:00.

That's odd. Incorrect TZ or DST settings would mean it would be out by a whole hour (or possibly 30mins for some weird time zones) not a random number of minutes.

What time server is your PC configured to get it's time from? The standard one for Windows is time.windows.com. I've just used an NTP testing tool to query it and it appears to be working OK.
