    Hey all,

I'm into week two of this plan. Today was meant to be 3.5k run plus strength. I skipped the strength bit cos I really have no interest in that side of training.

Is this a mistake? Anyone tell me if it is actually important to incorporate it in with the running? Obviously it's part of the 10k plan but can I continue to skip it?

    Thanks!

Tbh I suspect most runners that follow HH programmes skip the strength, cross etc. bits. They're not fundamental to progression and ultimate success.

Clearly if you can incorporate complementary physical activities it will add to your overall conditioning but the running bits are of paramount importance.

Also, if you're prone to injury strength training becomes more important to keep the niggles at bay.

    Thanks for the replies!

I'm doing one cross training day, cycling, but I have substituted the other one for my running club. We only meet once a week and do mainly sprints, uphill sprints, press ups, burpees, running lunges etc etc. so I'm hoping those body weight exercises will suffice!
