Just watched this film, brilliant stuff, brilliant soundtrack.

I was wondering about the opening sequence, though. Did anyone else find it strange that he left the car with the two guys in it in the stadium car-park? I mean, if the two guys were in on what the driver was doing, ok, but you get the impression from watching it that they're stumped as to why he's driving into the stadium. Aren't the cops just going to find two weirdos sitting in the back of a car, looking conspicuous?

Too much heat on them, the crowded stadium emptying gives them a chance to slip away. I think it was a back up/last resort type situation myself.

I don't know, I really got the impression that he'd been listening to the match to keep track of when the game would end so he could hide in the stadium.

I remember thinking while watching it that it seemed at odds with the character (über detached, in control etc.) to be listening to sport while on a job.

That was definitely why he was listening to it alright. Hard to know if he'd have gone there if they weren't being tailed though.

Think the plan was if they get away clean he'd drive them to X location but if they get followed he heads for the stadium and they all disappear in the crowd.

The reason he just gets out and leaves them is because that's where his part of the job ends. He's got them to the stadium safely and now they have to slip out themselves. If they don't get away it's not his problem at this point - he's done his job as agreed.

Yea, I agree with the above that he was listening to the game to get the timing right.

I thought this opening sequence was the best part of the film. After that it almost became a completely different film and poorer for it IMO

He tells them that they have him for 5 minutes only and before or after that window is nothing to do with him, that's all he's paid for is getting them to the stadium after that they're on their own.

Yup, was going to post that, he explained his duties over the phone and his part in it all was done, those 2 were no longer his job as such
