I was thinking of buying some bullocks for Slaughter next May. I have a lot of quality silage and rather than sell it i would like to feed it out myself. If i was to buy Aberdeen Angus what weight animal would i be looking to buy?

I think finishing cattle on a small scale over winter is a bad idea, better off buying lighter stores sell in may and let someone else finish them off grass over summer

Cattle inside that long go stale they become very poor to convert. I look at either light dairy 20 month old bulls to finish however if you have not done before it can be tricky marketing them, The better option might be to look at light stores. Good Friesians 350kgs can be bought for a bit with 500 euro. If you can get to 420kgs by April they should make over 2/kg LW and I have seen them make over 900 Euro.
