Bad connection some where. Wire from the flasher unit goes to the front indicator first. rear indicator is connected directly to the front one, you will see it spliced into the blade connector at the bulb. Check the terminal blocks where the looms join near the floor of the cab (position varys from right to left hand side of the cab depending on year). disconnect all connections and spray with WD40.

what year is it? if black cab wirring loom may be due a complete overhaul

it's 1991 399 4 wd,silver cab I disconnected the looms and using a continuity tester traced the wire back to the indicator switch ,Its brown from light to loom, green with black to switch ,the earth wire is okay as well , the wire is okay to rear light as well,I was checking for a faulty earth,or friction wire damage, I thought the problem lies in wiring from hazard flasher to loom. are all rear lights operating on that loom up right side pillar of cab, The wiper and front roof lights are throwing their lot now as well,so new wiring looks a must. To replace that loom are the connectors at end disconnected and pull wires through pillar? I once saw a wiring loom in an FL Volvo go up in smoke where wires over heated up back of cab, and wiring loom going from left side to right under cab in a daf virtually rot but at least you could find wire by opening loom and simply pulling individual wires and replacing entire length using colour code on wire, but this has got me bamboozled,

you had to jump start it?
sounds like you still have battery or alternator issue. your intermittant rev counter will be sorted once you sort the charging issue.

As for earths, there is an earth strap from cab to chassis on left hand side, looks like a battery lead. Also I have had to put new earth leads on both rear lamps of my 365 to stop every bloody bulb except the indicators flashing when I indicate.

thanks for that will renew and add a new earth connection to cab and dash altogether
fitted new alternator had issue with rev counter until you suggested remedy thank you, Friend of mine had issue with earth in vintage Ford Cortina rear lights similiar to yours in dry weather not in wet took similiar action to you as well as front wings of car after patch around aerial corroded ,didn't realise it could cause corrosion too.
