Becoming a teacher after getting my degree.

Just looking for a bit of advice.

I will finish my Marketing Degree next year and am wondering is it possible to do a hdip afterwards and become a secondary school business teacher?

Or will I have to do a teaching course and then a hdip?

If anyone has ever gone down this route or has any knowledge of what options are available to me I'd be very grateful

First of all, you need to check if your degree would be acceptable to the Teaching Council. There is a bit of a glut of business teachers, so there are quotas on PGDE courses for Business teachers.

I know it costs but check out Hibernia also. The UK is another option, one year course and your qualified. In Scotland you are almost guaranteed employment after qualification

When I finish my business & IT degree what routes can I go down to become a teacher it be it in a further ed college, youth reach, fas, anywhere!? If its any easier to get work in england id like to gear about it too. Thanks

There's a download link on the page which lists all degrees that are valid for teaching purposes, and what subjects you would be able to teach (DIT is page 51/52).

Thanks that was helpfull but my luck my course is not even on it, technology management in nci
