Anybody here qualified to shed light on why we read too much (assume) into what others say/ask

I am only using my own frame of reference here, but I assume all sorts of things at the same time, because I am constantly building my own model of the environment around me and if I haven't been giving the relevant information, I must assume(to me create) or I have a gap and humans don't like unanswered questions.
My assumptions are like placeholders for facts until I can confirm them or not.

I think Assumptions are based on our own experiences.
If i have met over my lifetime lots of people who do a certain thing for a certain reason, my mind will first use that as the go to for that particular behaviour.

Maybe a bad example, but wearing a very showing outfit in a setting that is surrounded by formal wear would probably cause people to assume certain things.
    It's a great question though.
I hope to hear from someone who has covered that subject in detail.

I'm assuming some people will be annoyed at my post because you specifically asked for someone qualified.
Maybe I am wrong, maybe I'm right.
For now I will assume I am right lol
Because of my experiences on this particular section of boards in the past years.
I try not to assume too much though, hence the post for discussion.
I'm happy to be corrected on my thoughts!
