    Mk 5 VW Golf

    Airbag light is on.

Anywhere recommended in Cork where I can take it to "get the light turned off"

    Preferably not a VW dealer

Any way of fixing it myself?

    Drive into a big pothole?

Get someone with a code reader to scan the fault code on the car's ECU, it will point you in the direction of the problem.

And where does one find someone with a code reader?

as the guys said you need to get it scanned. most likely knocked a wire loose when you hit the pot hole.
