PC Build Help

Okay, so I've recently started PC gaming again after years away. I've been doing it on my rubbish laptop and now I ant to invest in a decent PC rather than a console. With all the awesomeness of Steam, I think it's the way forward. Also, I do a bit of photo and video editing, and would like a better medium with which to do it!

Any help, appreciated! (I've made PC's before, but it was a long time ago, and it was an AST 586!)

    1. What is your budget?
    [€500-700]

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming/Video editing] (Indie Games, Civ 5, Sim City, BF4, Arkham City etc)

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [No]

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [Nope]

    5. Do you need a monitor? [I'm in the Market for a new TV, so might use that via HDMI? If not possible, then a cheap monitor would be nice too]

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [22'.]

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future?
    [N/A]

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Speakers/ Wireless Card]

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Down the line, yes]

    8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser All fine]

    9. When are you purchasing? [In 3-5 days (Payday)]

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [Should be fine, but I'm in South Dublin]

Would this also apply to my build?

And yes, blame Austin Evans for my pricing!

I seen you got the build from that thread. Check it for the updated mainboard and psu.

This would be a good monitor. You can get it on hwvs as well if you want to try and get a discount on it or try flubbit.com for a discount from Amazon.

Sweet, going to order it tomorrow, so will change the basket and hopefully, this time next week, new pc!

So, after initially being forced to reschedule the build, i now have been forced to change tact entirely. My dog decided that my Laptop was the devil, and destroyed the screen, chewed the plug and dropped the laptop itself on the ground. End result, no laptop, and I need something!!

Budget still the same, but now I need to look at getting something sooner rather than later, and I'm looking at Adverts/ DD etc. I need the Monitor and the keyboard too.

Are these good options, upgrade able down the line obviously too, but still powerful enough to play recent games?

    470 with Monitor and speakers

    e500 with monitor

Or if anyone here knows of anything going or has something going, please let me know! I need to be able to use CS6 Photoshop, preferably some high end games and be upgrade-able! Cheers guys

The one for 500 is okay other one is brutal. I'll do up a build for ya now. Is 700 the maximum?

After some deliberation, I have decided to go with my build I had planned (http://i.imgur.com/rg2DhrS.jpg) and replacing the graphics card with a Sapphire R9 270X Dual-X OC Boost Full Retail, AMD Radeon R9 270X, 2GB DDR5

And go laptop-less until it arrives. In between now and then, I'll look for a monitor to pick up, or throw one on to the order!

Any help very much appreciated, last thing on the list, then I'm clicking buy now!

EDIT Lumping for the Sapphire 7870!

hahahahaha, I'm an idiot! Luckily there's an issue on the order so I have to re submit! Can someone recommend a Mobo please?

    This?

Also, the 7870's are sold out, so I need to pick another graphics card in that bracket? Ideas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,100 ✭✭✭brianblaze

Okay, they're due to ring me in 30 minutes to fix their payment issue, so can someone recommend a GPU replacement for the Sapphire 7870 and tell me if this Motherboard is decent/ works with this build?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,632 ✭✭✭Redfox25

Think mobo is fine. Just order the 7870. It will be back in stock soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,100 ✭✭✭brianblaze

Thanks! Patience is not a virtue I have, but will stick with the 7870!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,632 ✭✭✭Redfox25

Okay, I was looking at a few videos online.... PC Building has changed a lot!!

I may need a hand putting it together? Or is there a good guide anywhere online?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,100 ✭✭✭brianblaze

All sorted for help building the PC, but lo and behold my mate with a Windows 8 disc, doesn't have one! And all my stuff will be here Friday according to UPS!

Anyone know where I can buy a disc copy of Windows 8 64bit at a reasonable price in Dublin? (Or have one delivered by Friday)

You could get next day delivery on amazon, which is 2 days for us in Ireland, so you would have it thursday or friday if you order it in the next day.

Really? That's crazy. It could be with you by friday if you chose the free super saver delivery.

See if they have an estimated delivery date if you go with that.

I tried that, and it said 4-5 days... Any stores in Dublin sell the disc, or could I burn an ISO and buy an activation key?
