The thought is the new yr or after. They're training the ICO at the moment n prob concentrate on the paramedics and AP's then. Depends on what place you came on panel, only 24 going through at a time

My advice: Don't be listening to rumours. Is this 'Senior' paramedic senior in rank, service or age??
Regarding the CAO BSc training; if it commences next year then it will be four years before anyone completes the course, there then has to be a recruitment process. So say a competition is run in late 2018, it would be well into 2019 or even 2020 before anyone is recruited, think about it.
Successful completion of the BSc programme does not entitle one to direct recruitment.

@GAVINCC, Advanced Paramedic training has not been effected in any way over recent years. Currently there are two competitions held per year for Advanced Paramedic training with two classes going through the process each year.
Paramedic training has not yet been effected either. Remember the document 'NAS Education & Competency Assurance Plan 2012 - 14' recommends and allows for 96 paramedics to be recruited within the timeframe of the plan which runs from December 2012 to March 2014. There are almost 200 persons on the current panel, more than enough to start drawing from by the end of the plan.

All these questions and concerns have been covered in the recruitment forum and threads, do a search and you'll get a lot of answers. The quoted document is also available to download in those forums.
