Good lord what have they done !!! ?????

That site just gets worse and worse, I might make the move to pix.ie

Will be a nightmare moving all images - if I let my pro account go from flickr,
I can keep as a free account all images up to 1TB ?

edit - seems there is a beta test for the new layout, one can still opt out ... which I just did, but the new layout looks sh/t, can't even view all sizes of the photos..

Is this the new photo view ? I switched and then just as quickly switched back. It's just a beta though, apparently they maintain they'll have all the old functionality when they finalise it. It's unusable at the moment, tags have become #tags for some stupid reason, there's no way to quickly share and get the BBCode for an image (essential for boards) and so on.

And secondary photos in the comments have simply disappeared in the new beta.

It's as if the site is being redesigned by people who have never used it.

In the flickr app you can no longer save an image to your phone either. The option is there but it never saves to the gallery.

Right click on the image gives you the sizes. hate the way they just keep moving things about and now it's a guessing game trying to find them.

i also switched back as soon as i saw the new look viewer. awful! i dunno why they have to keep fluting about with the site! it was perfect the way it was a year ago... i guess they just want to compete with the likes of 500px? but they do it right, flickr doesn't.

I got rid of my flickr pro account. I still post some photos there but the majority now go on to pix.ie it's much easier to use.

You don't need a Flickr Pro account anymore as far as I'm aware - at least I haven't paid for it in over a year and still get all the benefits of it (stats, etc)

I like that they're pushing it forward, but not in the way they're doing it. The drastic change from a few months back is fine with me now, and the Terabyte limit is quite nice, but the constant 'what do you think about this - or this?' screens or ads just get on me nerves. Still, much better than it was - at least in terms of how the image is presented!

I could live with that, tbh. 500px is nicely laid out. The problem seems to be that they're trying to compete with both 500px and Instagram simultaneously.

You must have paid a year or two year sub. Stats only exist for existing Pro users. They're gone for everybody else, and if you let your pro account lapse you'll never see them again.

does anybody here have a paid account with 500px?
one thing i don't like about 500px, is the inability to share pictures (on here, for example) unless i am completely blind, and have missed it!

i do like the stats.....i might think of dumping paid flickr for paid 500px.. hmm..

Jesus christ - what IS happening at Flickr? It's bad enough that some yahoo at Yahoo! is forcing them to have that purple ****e all over the place and I'm not even going to admit I live in the same universe as that login screen.

Within about 3 nanoseconds of that muck I felt absolutely compelled to come here and vent.

    I feel better now. Thanks!

all these changes are killing the comunity spirit on flickr also. the site just goes from bad to worse.
I have one of the flickr admins as a concact and I would love to send him a venting FM but im sure he gets them all the time now, I dont wana piss him off.... any more than he is now...

All joking aside, they need an intervention. I'd send him a mail if it was me.

How come when you use the app you can't download an image to your phone gallery anymore? It'll let you hit download but the image never arrives.

    That just me?!

Flickr has gone to the dogs but i'll still be using it over pix.ie, as i feel that site is just completely dead at the moment. Which is a shame, as there is a great community on there.

Works fine for me. If you're on android, it goes into a 'Flickr' folder in your gallery.

Not really relevant to this thread but .... been on Flickr for awhile, found the uploading process very sluggish ! POW got efibre installed yesterday WOW!!! What used to take 45-60 minutes to upload, now takes two minutes !!!

I'd like to make the move to 500px but it seems like macros and wildlife are all anybody wants to know about over there (no offence to people who are into wildlife and macros - I'm just not interested in that stuff)

At least on flickr you have all those very specific groups to join.

Anyone trying the new beta? It looks like facebook.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,988 ✭✭✭dirtyghettokid

not really a fan of bumping up an old thread, but it didn't really warrant a new one, so...

lately, i have been noticing a lot of linked flickr images coming up as broken/non displayed.

this is across my mac, tablet, phone, etc. just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue?

it's not always broken though. i could go back to the page with the pic link on it a few hours later, and it will display. not really sure what the cause would be ..
