Unpleasant person in a civic

On a long straight country road, came up to a red 98 civic, built up speed to just overtake and carry on. Just as I came almost level with his back bumper he moved out to block me. I slowed to avoid hitting him. Gave a beep thinking he veered by mistake.
Went to pass again and this time he shot out and drove up the road straddling the white line. .
Furious. What ever about making a mistake thats blatantly being dangerous

Should you really be overtaking someone on a country road though?
No doubt he seems like a **** from your post, but I wouldn't be attempting to overtake someone on little country roads.

OP said it was a long straight country road, I'd hold back judging whether it's safe to overtake or not until I seen the road myself.

But yeah, that guy driving the civic is a proper dick, hope you managed to grab his number plate when you were at it

Let me guess you live in the city. Not all country roads have grass growing down the middle....

Always find beamers and merc drivers more Wankerish than civic drivers :)

Typical boy racer, think they have the best and fastest car on the road, as soon as someone comes along in something better than their hairdryer they think they have something to prove

I overtake couple of tens of vehicles on country roads every day.
Why do you think it shouldn't be done?

I was coming home one night from a trip to town, going along the road and I could see I was catching this car ahead quite quickly, came up behind him, he was tipping along in his honda civic at 45mph. So I went to overtake him next thing I hear him drop a gear and he goes for it. He didn't have the power to stay ahead of me, but he tried to keep up my arse then for the next 2 miles. Civic w****r

They're angry that they don't own turbo diesels like the rest of the lads back in the village.

If OP had a dash cam could he pursue a case of dangerous driving, he would have unquestionable evidence.

What the civic driver done was idiotic but coming right up to some ones bumper isn't exactly great driving either.

What if he had to break for some legitimate reason or even on purpose instead of accelerating, you would of run right into the back of his car.

OP never mentioned anything about coming right up to someones bumper?

This is boards where people make up their version in their heads just to have a go at the OP and overtaking.

What else does coming "almost level" to a back bumper imply? To me it implies tailgating.

I also wasn't having a go at the op nor did I condone the actions of the Civic driver.

My interpretation is the OP was on the other side of the road and almost level with the car they were passing. If they were almost level on the same lane gathering speed, to me it implies the OP was about to ram the car in front.... That doesn't seem very likely tbh :pac:

We can all guess but it's up to the OP to tell us all what they meant by that

But how else do you overtake without being level with the back bumper?

As you overtake you become level with the back bumper.
Tailgating would staying very close behind the car.

I assume you would want one side of a door frame to be level with the other side so I think you are misunderstanding the term :pac:

Its a open section with great view ahead where your allowed to overtake. Id nearly go as far to say its a almost perfect place to overtake. Almost a mile long.
    'the white line' ?

    Dotted. Your allowed overtake

I saw them ahead. They were well under the limit. I sped up as I approached so id overtake in a nice flowing manner, indicated and moved out as I neared. As I was overtaking he moved out at almost last possible moment.

Your better off letting a bit of distance between you and then just get up to over taking speed and just blow past them, before they have a chance to act the ****..

Little baby knackers in civics seem to have a real problem with being over taken by an adult in a BMW

I did. I approached from a distance and sped up to about 20 mph more. Would have been a quick flowing overtake

You should have heard me In the van. (Bearing mods in mind) I was extremely miffed at the inconsiderate behaviour of the sausy little pup. If I was in the company van I might just have bulldoged the little crunt. Up over the ditch for ya.

Sure van drivers are some of the worst on the roads. Half of them are on the phone and the other half are not even looking at the road.

we don't have lanes in the Country....we have the black bit and the grassy bits...sometimes we have two black bits and three grassy bits.
