Ive a 30 yr old house.

    1. Old radiators. Is it worth investing in new rads (12 in total)? the old ones work but do new ones give off "significantly" more heat and are more economical to make the change worthwhile. I'm able to change myself.

    2. The boiler is a good 15 yrs old, is it really worth changing? If Im filling 1000 ltrs kerosene tank 2 times a year, then if I get a new superduper high performance boiler are there stats to say "On average you'll use 25% less oil" so I can work out how much its worth to me.

    3. I have an extension with ensuite upstairs being fed by a pump from the mains tank that needs the cold water tap running for the hot water in the shower to remain hot and the extremely noisy pump is running while the taps are on in the ensuite. Is there a quiet running pump available and what options have I for hot water in the ensuite. I could get a power shower I suppose but that doesnt fix the taps.

    4. Also in the extension downstairs is the kitchen that takes 30-40 seconds to get hot water to it after turning on the tap that has very low pressure on the hot water tap. Is one of those under sink hot water converters any use? I could direct the normal pressure cold water to that.

    5. Id like to change to some remote system for heating to make my home energy smart. Apart from climote are there DIY options?

2000ltr on oil per year is very heavy !
Forget your DIY and get a professional oil boiler service it could save u hundreds.

PM sent on proper boiler servicing. And what you should be looking for.

Thanks for that man, the difference in what you list on your site compared to some of the guys I've had servicing over the years is incredible.

I need a guy who can come in and give me recommendations based on what I have and what I need. I normally just call a local guy who spends a bit of time at the boiler, I give him 70-80 quid and then he goes away again. I ask are we ok for everything, he says "ah your grand". yet the house is never warmer, and the oil usage never changes as my tracker shows. Is there anyone better then that on here near ashbourne?

As for DIY, I can change rads, thats as far as my plumbing skills would take me. Wouldn't go near a boiler other than to release an air lock.
