Also known as Akbar the Great, he ruled as the Mughal Emperor from 1556-1605, dying on this day in history.

Pretty significant historical figure worthy of AH reverence not least because he massively extended the expanse of his Empire through most of the Indian subcontinent as well as revolutionary administrative reforms.

    All hail Akbar!

Pardon my Arabic but dosen't Akbar mean Great, so his name is Great the Great, or Akbar the Akbar?

Yes, but was he as great as Ivan, who was of course, Great, long before Akbar was known as Great. In fact, I've heard it said, Akbar was really known as Akbar the Average

Shah Jahan was the guy responsible for constructing the Taj Mahal in dedication of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Though Akbar the Great was the grandfather of Shah Jahan not the great-grandfather.

He was responsible for many hideously bloody victories. Massacred 30,000 civilians after the siege of Chittor. He sustained his large army by heavy taxes on the peasantry. Yes Great alright.

Not googled. Happened to be reading Andrew Marr's A History of the World at the moment.
You should try books some time. Full of interesting material.
