    Hey all,

I hope I can pick ye're brains here, I think its time I updated my plumbing controls. Info - I have a dual heating system - back boiler/oil burner, both capable of heating hot water cylinder and rads(1 zone). The problem I have (well one of them at least) is when the oil burner is on the back boiler heats up, so i'm burning oil to send heat up the chimney frown.png. The pump and non-return valve are on the return line to the back boiler, so in my limited understanding of plumbing, the back boiler is always in the flow circuit.

Just to note, the power to the back boiler pump is normally switched off (when not in use) as the thermostat for the back boiler is in the hot press and will switch on when the oil heating is on.

To add to my upcoming expenses, now when either heating is on for a while and the missus runs a bath the hot water is coloured.

So I called a plumber, he said the coloured water is prob caused by a leaking coil in the cylinder, so needs replacing €200 and my first problem is a common one and spoke to his supplier who recommeded a new product from systemlink called spirozone. About €300.

    My question(s) -
Could I use a systemzone instead? which is better (I can make more sense out of systemzone, cant figure out how the spiro thing works.)
Once the heat sources are seperated will I be able to control them better ie. not have to switch on the power to the pump everytime I light a fire?
I plan to call Systemlink after the bank holiday, will they give a joe soap like me any info?

    Thanks for any help
