    Hi all,
Unfortunately I need to replace the engine in my 09 octavia. I know these are BXE engines but it is proving difficult to get one second hand.

I know the VWs and SEATs also have a BXE engine. Can anyone tell me is it possible to use these in the Octavia or will it cause any other problems?

There shouldn't be a problem. Just do a bit of research and try to get one from the vw family that is the same hp as your car.

Also try to get the ancillary bits as well, if you are getting one from a scrap yard. The more of the donor engine the easier it will be to fit it.

Once it is a BXE then it will work fine.

Once BXE replaces BXE - it's fine. :)

Keep all the sensors and other small bits and pieces from an old engine just in case of incompatible plugs/sockets. ;)

What mileage is on the car- and what history.

Cars only 4 years old - and its not the first time ive heard of a BXE engine failing (how I know such a thing exists is due to people whove had issues with them posting on another forum im on).

So if the mileage isn't high and the car has a full history - then would there be anypoint in asking Mr Skoda for a substantial contribution towards a new engine...

Worst they can say is no

Which is probably what they will say - but you lose nothing in trying - imo

The issue ive heard with the BXE variant of the 1.9 tdi is that the conrod (s) put a hole through the block - seen mention of a few cases of it happening now.

Pity the replacement engine has to be BXE as well (would have been nice if you could fit one of the better 1.9 tdi variants)
