Painting stripe on walls?

I'm painting a room that has ceilings about 8 foot high. It will have one thickish horizontal stripe where I plan to hang some pictures (only a4 framed size). I'm trying to figure out what height to paint the stripe. Research is telling me art should be hung 57 inches from the ground (eye level essentially) but I'm worried that having the stripe too low with drag the room down. Any views on roughly what height from ceiling the stripe should start? TIA.

Why not run a length of masking tape around the wall at the height where you think the stripe should be, then have a sit-down and see if it fits the room in question. If not, adjust accordingly. Simple, 5 minute, €2 way of getting a feel for the final result, before you ever have to pick up a paintbrush.
