Serbian made Solid Fuel Cooker - concept2

    Hi there,
just wondering has anybody else installed one of these new type cookers to the market. They are called "concept 2" and are 29 kw. I was a little sceptical at first as didn't think you could get a solid fuel range/cooker with such a high output. My house is big (too big 4200 sq) and wanted something that would heat 3 out of my 4 zones at any one time. I was pleasantly surprised that this cooker did just that. I am getting 17 double radiators hopping and thats just with turf, I haven't tried coal. Some of these radiators are massive (at least 9 of them, which could easily be described as 2-3 in normal terms). There are 32 liters in the boiler compared to 13 liters (i think) in the stanley and rayburn cookers. What I think is a great idea is that the grate that you light the fire on isn't a grate as such, its 5 bars filled with the boiler water. Think that is what makes it so efficient and heat v.fast. Also the heat to room is fantastic.

Just wondering has anybody else installed one and how do they find it? I was looking for info on the site about these but was surprised I wasn't able to find anything? Would love to hear other peoples opinion on them.

    Cheers
    soh

I've never heard of them soh but it sounds good . Do you go through much turf in the day with it ?
Does the grate move to shake out the ashes ? I would be a bit wary of a grate filled with water as I imagine they would burn out at some stage and it would be a job to replace them

    hi there,
there sold my a company called thermopoint, they have a whole range of stuff. I use the same if not less than what I used to burn in my previous stanley donard. However I get at least half again the output. Probably about 2 bags of turf (or a little more). It all depends really on how cold the day is to be honest i.e. whether you have to open it up or not. No the grate doesn't move, you just pull a lever as such over the bars and the ash falls down below. I know what you are saying about the grate being filled with water, hopefully it won't burn out too easily. There is a 5 year warranty on the range so I am not worrying about that sort of stuff just yet.

will do. so far its been fantastic. What I really like about it also compared to the stanley is that you can see the fire burning. I find that makes the kitchen really cosy and also you can clearly see when you need to refill.

Considering purchase of Concept 2. Liked your comments. Curious about cleaning - how often needed? Is flue coming out side - how did that work out? Have you used oven - good for cooking or baking?
