Hi all hope this is t the wrong forum. Can anyone suggest why a MacBook can see others people's networks but not mine, when my iPad, phones etc all can pick it up? Switched to UPC Horizon and I wonder is that a cause? Would really appreciate a steer.

Can you log into the wireless router and change the channel that its broadcast on.

Warning changing the channel can lose connectivity for other devices so its a good idea to have an ethernet (LAN) cable on hand incase this happens.

On the mac run an app called istumbler (http://www.istumbler.net/downloads/istumbler.html) (you may need to download it on another machine)

When you run this it will show a lst of wireless networks and the channel that they are broadcasting on.

You need to find a free channel which ideally has the immediate channel on either side free. so for example if the list does not contain channels 8, 9 or 10 then Channel 9 would be the one to use.

On a device that you can connect to the network open a browser and login to the horizon box (unless you changed it should be http://192.168.1.1 ) Login should be admin and admin.

    Click Wireless.

Change the channel to one based on istumblers list above and click Save. Reboot if necessary.
