UPC - recording two channels at the same time?

Hoping someone can help with recent actual experience.....

I have a bog-standard UPC digital box (not Horizon, whatever that is). It used to be (allegedly) able to record two channels simultaneously, but always seemed to feck it up. I had dealings both on the phone and on the TalkTo forum with them, and it never got satisfactorily resolved. They wittered on about software issues, and that they were working on resolving them - basically they knew what the problem was, and might eventually get around to fixing it. Maybe. I ran out of steam, and energy for the argument, and anyway stopped watching the telly for the summer.

For the first time in about a year, I find myself wanting to record two things at once this evening. (Well, actually, three things - but I presume that won't happen!!!) The box will be in standby.

My question is - does anyone know was this issue ever actually resolved? Will the box actually record two channels at once? I'd prefer to pick one programme over the other if I thought it was going to do what it used to - ie record none at all!

I considered giving UPC a ring, but they were so monumentally unhelpful last time I dealt with them about this, that I'd prefer not to waste my time. They're not online at the weekend, so the TalkTo forum is no use.

I know there were others who had experienced the same problem last year - just wondering has anyone tried this lately, and is it working these days?

    Ta in advance!

I think last time I tried on the HD+ box it worked. I'm not 100% though.

If you try to record two programmes back-to-back on one channel (on standby) the second won't record. I do have 1 minute extra before and after programmes which might be an issue.

Cheers, I took a gamble and left the thing set to record two programmes at the same time. One starting at 9, one at 9.30.

    Fingers crossed!

I remember we were agitating about the issue on the UPC "Talk to" (sic) forum at roughly the same time :D.

Unfortunately however, no, nothing has changed since then in relation to Dual Recording nor Series Linking for that matter...

Well, if I get home later and find one (or both) programmes haven't recorded, UPC will be getting it with both barrels next week!

UPC, are you listening? I'm comin' to get you next week - be warned :mad:

I've long since given up on recording two programmes at the same time with any confidence or certainty on one box. Luckily I have two boxes so usually record one on each, which isn't ideal.

It seems to work sometimes & is very much a case of hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I've read somewhere along the line that if you tune into one of the channels that you want to record before putting box in standby that it might record the two programmes, but haven't tried this method.

Different boxes seem to be on different system updates too which I imagine would affect things.

Give out all you like to UPC but their response will be that the Horizon box can record four concurrent programs.
