Last time I watched Quillin he was in a great scrap with N'Jikam, think he knocked him down 6 times but it was still a good fight! I like Quillin hope he wins.

Quillin is impressing me so far.

Good end to that round from Rosato.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Quillin wins, fight stopped on a really bad cut from a punch. Had Quillin up 86-84 after the 9th Rosado came back into it well but the cut ended his chance.

Shit fight, have Murat 3-1 up, looks like I was the only one stupid enough to stay up and watch a Hopkins fight. :o

Have it level after 6. Zzzzzzzzzz.

10-8 round for Hopkins in the 7th, point taken off and lost the round. Best round of the fight by far!

Hopkins is a freak of nature, he is taking over now. Looks the boss in there now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Haha Hopkins took a few seconds out to talk to Murats corner while Murat threw digs at him, Hopkins turns around and bates the head of him! Great entertainment now! Another Hopkins round.

    117-110, 119-108, 119-108 Hopkins UD.

Bit wider than I thought but B-Hop is a machine of a man.

That outfit Hopkins wore to the ring was the most pathetic I have ever seen.

Hopkins is pathetic. Before I begin, yes it is amazing that he is performing at such a high level at his age, there's no doubting that.

My issue is that he is masquerading as a world champ. Dawson beat him and Kovalev would kill him. He is absolutely cherrypicking all his opponents. He lays low, waits until someone he can beat pops up, then challenges them. He then proceeds to declare that everyone else was ducking him.

He is a great fighter but he never beat the best. Jones whooped him, Calazaghe outslapped him, Taylor beat him twice. Toney would have taxed that ass as well.

He is a fraud, and terrible to watch. He constantly complains, bullies and cheats his way to victory. He has a horrible inferiority complex about the beating Jones gave him and I believe that is partly motivating him to this day.

Murat is terrible. Paper-fisted Cleverly stopped him, that says it all.

The fact that he is operating at such a high level at his advanced age is laudable, but lets not delude ourselves on what he's doing.

I cant stand to watch him, constantly holding and generally just a dirty fighter(some people call that clever). Bit of an attitude as well.

It's not dirty when an American fighter does it, it's 'street smart'.

Just from reading around the forums it seems like Peter Quillin is getting a lot of ciriticism today for what wasn't that bad a performance last night. I regard him as pretty mediocre personally but I don't see what it was about this fight that has made people dismiss him. He got tagged a few times alright but I thought he did the cleaner work all night long and had Rosado looking fairly desperate by the end.

I think it's fair to assume that GGG would take him out, but I'd love to see Lee or Macklin get a crack at him first. He's a New York fighter, and between the Irishness and the relatively acceptable risk associated with both guys you'd like to think it could be a runner.

Came home early saturday night and watched the fights on one of the astra 19 channels.
Halfway through the hopkins fight they stopped showing it and put on a film so even the germans must have thought it was sh1t.

Quillin is a level above Macklin and Lee, would easily beat both of them. He is well below Golovkins level though.

Idiots. Second half of the wait was great entertainment.

Quillin is pretty ordinary. He lacks fluency/smoothness, he looks uncomfortable under pressure and IMO is very beatable by 'world' champion standards. He certainly can punch and that's what has got him where he is, but I reckon either Lee of Macklin could beat him. I'm not saying they definitely will, just that it certainly wouldn't surprise me if they did.

Seen that from twitter updates, big improvement on the first half.
The quillin fight was a good scrap and while wilder has a good right hand he's a ko waiting to happen.

I like Quillin, think he's decent without being genuine world class, Lee would not stand a chance against him, Macklins style would give him a chance though but would still fancy Quillin.

Trinidad and De La Hoya were half his size. Don't think he was robbed against Calzaghe but it was a close fight.
