Are our policy makers able to create sound policies?

There was an article in The Sunday Times and it argued that main government policy makers in UK are not really qualified to create and manage government policies. The simple reason was that they were not sufficiently educated for that kind of job. The author argues that people are suffering because of their mistakes. That article applied to Britain, though.

Are university and expertise-based think tanks recruited by the government to create and manage policies, or is their involvement cut due to budget? I think that the best kind of research and science should be applied to create an environment in which people can live normal lives, but I wonder if it is sufficiently applied.

Policies go for public consultation before bills are created.

So interest groups & think tanks can make suggestions.

    As to politicians being under-qualified.....

I'm sorry you are dis-pleased with democracy.
Feel free to move to North Korea.

, so I wasn't dissing any Irish politicians. I never will and I don't want to.

Thanks for the South Park link, though.
