Lighting is a critical piece of the design - my advice employee an professional who is a lighting expert (there are a few around)

Actually get the lighting designed and not just "dumped" into your treasured new property

That's why im asking, been living in this old house for 12 years and want to get it right when we extend and renovate it. Some rooms are to dark with all the lights on, would like to get it done properly this time. What would a rough cost of getting it done?

There are software programs that model the lux level in a room based on light types and positions. Generally consulting electrical engineers would do this type of modelling and the suppliers of certain lighting systems will do it for their particular brand.

So you might be able to talk a manufacturer/supplier into doing it for free but the results may have a certain bias/slant or you could engage a consultant for a fuller solution but you will obviously pay for it. I've no idea how much it would cost or indeed if there are consultants who would be interested in doing this for a single room/dwelling.

That software is called Dialux or DialuxEVO. There is also Relux, but I've never used it.

When I made repairs in our house, I chose the lighting. I read a lot of articles on the portal https://bestlightguide.com, there is a comparison of floor lamps, articles on how to choose the right light for your study and bedroom (did you know that cold yellow light is good only for reading?), how to do without overhead lighting, but so that there is enough light. This helped me choose the fixtures and bulbs, then the master did the wiring for lighting based on the plan I had drawn.

how did you draw that conclusion from the text below?.
What is your understanding of cold in this context?

What Color Temperature is the Best for Reading?
Yellow light is commonly accepted like the natural.
It is the closest to sunshine. Additionally, it’s the least sensitive to the eyes. However, it may make you relax and feel sleepy. So, I would call yellow the best color light for reading at night when you want to fall asleep. It is definitely preferable for bedrooms. But, what is the best light for studying: white or yellow? On one hand, the white color would help you focus on reading and your work. It has more energy, making us vigorous and concentrated. However, it might make you feel irritated or tired by the end of the day. Additionally, blue LED bulbs emit short wavelengths harmful for retina and vision. Is warm white or cool white better for eyes? I guess warm white is still the best, healthy, but not too relaxing. Thus, as the young Korean researchers have discovered, 6500K color temperature is optimal for academic performance, as it stimulates psychological alertness. 3500K light is beneficially relaxing.

I'd say they own the website and are advertising it. It's usual with people and low post counts and poor quality replies to threads that are five years old. I can't be 100% sure but reported it for a mod to decide.
