Hycote paint v Halfrauds paint (aerosols)

    Howdy all.

Having read very mixed reviews in relation to Halfrauds' colour match aerosol cans, I tried buying some Hycote double acrylic paint/lacquer/primer on amazon. The shipment got returned to the seller as yodel won't carry aerosols, so I got a refund and am back to square one.

The spoiler on my car has lost all the lacquer on the top of it and there are loads of white spots and rust spots on it. It's very unsightly even if my car is a bit of a banger in general, and I want to get it sorted soon on the cheap, no point shelling out 200 quid for cosmetics on a 17 year old car.

Does anyone know anywhere I could buy some hycote paint from within Ireland, so that it can actually get posted to me?

Would anyone recommend halford's paint from a particular store etc.? I've read that some stores are better than others at mixing the paint. I'm based near Tralee but will be travelling to Dublin for a few days in 2 weeks and don't mind diverting off to a halfords along the way if someone can recommend one!

If I can't get hycote stuff I'll settle for an ok match from halfords but obviously want it to be as close as possible!

Oh and the paint is Peugeot's China Blue, it's metallic.

Vinny Bynes in Dublin are excellent paint suppliers and will colour match based on bits of the car you bring in or on paint code.

    They have a website : http://www.vinnybyrne.com/

They also have a outlet in Athlone

I have used them many times and find them excellent. Note that if they paint on the car is old, even modern paints will fade and oxidize slighty

PS. I am in not way connected with them - just a satisfied customer.

Wouldn't touch the Helfrauds stuff with a bargepole. I once had some colour matched, and it was utterly useless.

+1 on Vinny Byrnes. If you can take the fuel cap off they'll match the paint to it exactly - so should take some of the fading of the paint into account.
