Hi. Will be flying to the US in 2 weeks with delta airlines. The seat I booked was beside the window in a 2 4 2 configuration. Does that mean the plane will be an A330? From what iv read it seems like the 757's are used after summer but from the seatguru website I only see 757's in seating configuration of 3 3.

Nothing got to do with the airplane manufacturer. The airline decides what IFE is installed.

Put your flight details into seat guru website and You should get the right details.

I flew Delta 2 weeks ago to Atlanta, i return in December through JFK, it's a Boeing 767. 2-4-2 config.

Couldn't rate them high enough. IFE screen is almost as big as the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet, you have over a hundred movies to choose from. I saw most of them Thanks to the internet. They keep the IFE going all the way to the gate. There is a USB charger also for phones.

Plenty of head room to the overhead bins and seemed to be more leg room in economy than usual.

    Food wasn't bad either.

Unlike American Airlines, i flew with them 6 weeks ago to JFK and they were desperate, no IFE, screens in the middle aisle, 1 movie for a 7 hour flight, and the return was worse, 3 hour delay leaving JFK, on the plane off the plane episode, luggage left sitting on the ramp in the pissing rain, luggage soaked when i got home, and rude cabin crew. I would avoid if at all possible.

I have flown the DUB-ATL route a couple of times and in the off season its mostly a really old 767 with no personal screen, just overhead tv in galley, not great on a 9hr flight!

Good to hear. Il let you know how the flight goes.

I was kinda regretting not using EI but if delta are as good as you say then il be happy.

Bah, I fly with AA soon. Thanks for the note on their lack of IFE. I thought that was fairly standard on most transatlantic carriers. I've used BA and Delta in the past, no complaints. Have used AA for internal flights. Don't mind lack of IFE on those, but it's a little annoying on longer stretches. Too costly to cancel/get a refund and move to Delta. Should have checked cabin specs, etc, in more detail. Audiobooks and Kindle it will be.

Flew Delta from Schipol to Washington and it was a nightmare. Old seats, mine moved a bit which terrified me. The tv's were in the aisle and the one closest didn't work. That plus on the plane I was on the seat only came up to just over my shoulder so if you plan on sleeping you have nothing to rest your head on.

I'v flow twice with Delta(T/A) planes were "buckets of ****", but the food was nice.

Ok everyone. 2 weeks ago I started this thread. Landed in jfk yesterday so il tell you how it went.

Firstly the plane was a 767-300er. 2-3-2 config.

Food was either thai green curry or pasta. I had the curry and it was fine. ALL BEER WAS FREE on the flight. Later paninis were served.

The flight attendants were very helpful and friendly.

In dublin my gf and I were approached and asked if we wanted emergency exit seats. We took them and ended up in economy plus. Lots of leg room.

As for the IFE, tv's were on the back of every seat but alot of the tv's had no volume. Lots of games and movies too. Because we had taken the exits seats the seat in front were a good distance in front so constantly leaning forward was just a pain after a while.

Overall I would recommend delta airlines highly.

Lets hope the return journey is just a good.

Glad to hear you had a good flight. Sounds a lot better than Aer Lingus whose transatlantic services are a disgrace. Instead of handing out blankets they dump a bag of them at the emergency exits and tell everyone to "help themselves". All alcoholic drinks are charged for and even water is rationed. The food is unedible and I personally witnessed a family being treated in a very rude manner by a steward who mistakenly thought they were in the wrong seats. When he realised his mistake he threw the boarding passes back and walked off without any apology or explanation.

    Really?

    On my several t/a flights:

    - The blankets / pillow has always been left on my seat.
    - Never had a issue in getting free water / orange juice etc. Just help yourself from the galley where they leave a tray out.
    - Pay for alcoholic drink? Fine by me. Having a glass of wine with dinner is nice and no issue paying for that. But on a 7 hour flight I don't want to get pissed.
    - Always found the EI CC on T/A to be of a very high standard.
    - good IFE with a massive range of TV, movie, music and games.

So the polar opposite to you. I would have no issue in telling people to fly EI for T/A service.

I'm flying on EI105 / EI104 next week so I will see if these high standards are still the same and report back via the planes wifi :D.
    The Wanderer.

I went a few weeks ago from BMI->ATL->DUB and return. Service was excellent on the 767 300 (ER). I am celiac so eat gluten free meal which was chicken with rice and broccoli, very enjoyable. Huge amount of choice in the entertainment side, lots of films, tv shows, music, games. The personal screens had audio jacks and USB ports for charging. No problems with getting yourself drinks anytime. I will never fly from Chicago again if I can help it, will get to know the staff at ATL in concourse F. :)

Blankets were left in a heap at 29k on EI108 last month, though I wouldn't regard that as much of an issue tbh.

I'm a big fan of EI's short-haul product and their staff are generally a pleasure to deal with, but I've been underwhelmed by aspects of their T/A service on the last few occasions I've gone with them.

I've been back and forth with five or six different carriers so far this year and just feel in comparison with the others, EI's crew strike me as a little disengaged & lacking in warmth - something I'd always have considered a traditional strongpoint of their cabin crew.

Just my experience mind, it'd appear you & many others have encountered the precise reverse.

I'm flying chicago to dublin dec 21st with EI, do these flights around xmas have a history of being delayed etc due to snow or are they pretty much on the ball at chicago at this stage when it comes to the weather?

ORD is always a lottery when it comes to weather, no matter what season it is.

On the few times I've transited ORD, I would recommend bringing a sleeping bag as part of survival kit. Summer, its thunderstorms, winter it's snow. Spring - possibly any kind of weather. Not the most modern airport either....be warned.

Flew my return journey back to dublin last night with delta. Took just under 6 hrs. As with the first journey the cabin crew were helpful and friendly. Food again was ok and the IFE worked fine. I don't know if wifi worked as I never checked. Plane was a 767-300er but had different wing tips than the plane on the first flight.

We were delayed leaving jfk as a man and woman in their 60's/70's were drunk on board and security had to persuade them to get off.

Anyway I would recommend delta to anyone for a t/a flight. Looking forward to heading back to ny next year.

Just an update on my previous post. I was due to come back in December but had to change and came back Saturday night.
    Like vr7 i came thru JFK, 767 300 - 2-3-2 seat config.
5 hours 30 min flight time.
Food wasn't great i should have went with the warm chicken salad, keep away from the chicken breast, poor.
IFE was the same, no issue with mine, no moving map would show up though, i was getting all the other flight info but no map.
I also noticed a plug socket on each of the seats that were in zone 2, i didn't notice them in zone 3 on my outbound flight, but they may have been there. All in all they are probably the best flying TA at the minute.
But i suppose that also depends if you can get them at the right money.
FYI Delta are only average for internal flights.
