Just wondering what it's costing per head around the country? Working out at €4.20/head here which I thought was steep enough as we ran through almost 200 (sucklers and followers) in 1.5hrs.

Curious as to what price it is everywhere else before I pay up!

    Cheers.......

I think my crowd charge for two visit I think and about 3/head (2.8+vat) and in two places about 10 miles apart. At 4/head and you did 200 animals in 1.5 hours I be having a chat with him and be signing the check and telling him it would be the last herd test with him:)

Starting to think along the same lines as you Pudsey!! We had only said that it was great having no bloods this year as the bill would be lower.... and then we got it!!!! Just to clarify it's €3.70+ VAT (€4.20)
Might be the straw to break the camel's back now as we feel their service just isn't up to scratch these days:mad:

To get through that many so fast, your cattle handling facilities are probably better than most and a credit to you. I'm thinking about the occasional older wiser cow that just refuses to go up the crush, cattle with heads down inside another etc. Based on the time you quote that's an animal in less than 30 seconds - probably OK for the vet but certainly fair going for the man on the gates. I'd say there are places where it takes as long to test 1/4 of that number, 5 at a time, in and out of chute

I'd be looking for a discount on that basis
