Contrary to RTE and 2RN documentation, Collins Barracks (Cork) transmitter is actually transmitting MUX 2 on UHF Ch 40 instead of UHF Ch 37 as advertised.

So the actual Saorview frequencies for Collins Barracks (Cork) are

    MUX 1 Ch 50
    MUX 2 Ch 40

It's been 37 in documents dating back at least a year. What is telling you it's actually on ch. 40?

    a) I live in this area and am receiving MUX 2 from Collins Barracks on UHF Ch 40.

    b) My outdoor wideband aerial is vertically polarised and pointing specifically at Collins Barracks.

    c) The signal strength is very high when I use MUX 1 (Ch 50) and MUX 2 (Ch 40)

    d) I can also pick up poorer quality signals for MUX 1 and MUX 2 from both Mullaghanish and Spur Hill. The documentation with respect to both of those transmitters is correct.

    e) There are no other transmitters in the country transmitting MUX 2 on UHF Ch 40 except for Greenore in Louth and I'm certainly not picking up that.

    f) There is no signal at all on UHF 37. Absolutely nothing.

    Hope that helps.

I meant what kind of receiver & where are you reading off the channel no. or frequency. Maybe post a pic of the display?

The latest Comreg broadcasting tech parameters from 8th Oct lists UHF 50 & 37 for Mux1 & 2. Maybe Ch 40 is a temporary frequency.

I'm using two different Samsung TV's, both with built in MPEG4 tuners and both manually tuned by me using specific frequencies. No auto scans allowed in this house! I'll attach a pic. Photography is not my strong point but you can still see RTE1 HD using 626000 KHz which is UHF Ch 40 on the RTENL 2 network (MUX 2).

Indeed, they have updated their document too.

Where did you get that link? The link on the 2RN site is still pointing to the old (Oct) document - http://www.2rn.ie/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/2RN-DTT-Television-Transmission-Network-Oct-2013.pdf

Spur Hill is a lot more powerful now, than it was for analogue. Your in-laws would probably be better going with it in preference to Collins Barracks.

Aerials don't have perfect directional or polarisation discrimination.
