I have a rad in the hallway that gets very little heat to it....it never has heated in the last ten years. I had all the downstairs pipes replaced and a new rad put in the hallway 5 years ago while renovating the house and still no heat to it. Even with all other rads shut off it doesn't get warm.

    Any advice appreciated.

Make sure the lockshield rad valve is open fully ( the one you don't use to turn on / off) you will need to remove the cap off the valve to do this and turn it with an adjustable spanner , if it is open fully and still doesn't heat it could be a kinked or blocked pipe , you might need to disconnect the valves from the rad to see how the flow is .

Thanks Sullz....they are both actually new valves.....might try taking off the radiator and seeing what type of flow I get

The valves might be grand but the pipes to them might be blocked or kinked , also when you have the rad disconnected check the connections in the rad , I've come across these blocked with ptfe tape from when they were fitted , the plumber taped over the end of them when wrapping the tail pieces , also try disconnecting one side of the rad and open the valve on the other en to see what the flow through the rad is like , it could be a faulty rad , if you have a sealed system make sure somebody is working the filling loop or your pressure will drop as your doing all this , don't over pressurise your system and don't have your boiler on , if it hasn't worked since fitted why didn't the installer sort it ?
