I remember reading on boards about someone who has/was going to get the ads-b equipment from flight radar. I have just been accepted to have it and was wondering if anyone has any tips as to how to get best signal.

Cool. Have a long pole on the top of my house which used to have a aerial on it. So will try get it attached to that. Hopefully it stays dry long enough so I can get up on the roof.

What aerial do they supply? Could you post a photo, please?

How long ago did you apply if you don't mind me asking, I applied a few weeks ago but have heard nothing back.

I applied on the 29th September, got initially accepted (pending more details) on the 2nd October. Sent away the details on Wednesday and got full acceptance today. I should have the aeriel next week.

Will MLAT enable the viewing of all non ADS-B aircraft?

Are there any legal issues about running this this type of equipment and then supplying the information to any organisation?

France and Israel have restrictions, most of the EU does not, Oman does most of Saudi does not. None for North America and Canada either, except Quebec I think.

It finally arrived today. Just about to jump up onto the roof now to fit it. Looks like and easy enough process.

Mine might not be far behind it hopefully, starting to wonder is it being delivered by bicycle. It was shipped on Oct 22!

Mine was shipped 25th. Arrived in Ireland yesterday morning.

Got it set up, couldn't be easier and now have premium membership too.

It would be good to see what range you are getting. I didn't see any connection for powering a pre-amplifier in the photo, so I presume it's just a direct run of cable from the aerial to the receiver?

Theres a straight run from the aerial to the receiver, 5m coax cable which actually wasn't in the picture. I am picking up aircraft over Scotland etc. I'll upload a screenshot of the local radar screen once I am home later.

Finally got my receiver up and running. F-EINN1 :)

I've mine in the attic and I can get fifty miles. With a MiniADSB USB dingle.

If I put the 10" magnetic antenna on the roof of my jeep I can get two hundred miles from a small hilltop.

Range is pretty good, about 250nm I'd say. Visibility is a bit better to the south so I'm picking more of it up in that direction
