Citroen c5 - What to do?

I have a Citroen c5 2003, lying up last few months, NCT out since July, no tax, probably needs a few hundred spent on it for NCT (Tyres etc.)

Question is, should I put a couple of new tyres on it, put it through the NCT or sell it as is which I'm guessing is pretty much unsellable?

With a fresh NCT you might get a grand for it. Is it petrol or diesel?

Get some part-worn tyres from www.tyreland.ie They have 2 grades in each size normally (75% or 50% tread remaining) and only do brand name stuff.

It's petrol 1.8 very underpowered engine, due a timing belt and shudders when going over 65mph.

So I'll put a pair of part worn tyres on it and see what happens with the NCT then.

Even with test, it's the sort of thing that's very very hard sold.

Test might make it easier to sell, but it's probably worth little more than scrap price. Sorry:(

It'll sell at the right price. I imagine it'll have to be 3 figures however.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Sounds like a plan. Will only cost you a bit over €100 for tyres + test. Based on the NCT results, you can then decide what to do next

Alternatively, just advertise as is warts and all for €595. Plenty of people out there with time on their hands keen to do a car up and make a few hundred

I think I would opt for the second option. As Stheno said, with a fresh NCT the car is worth a grand tops (and that's without buyer negotiating a discount because the belt is due :))

The shudder over 65mph sounds like a classic symptom of unbalanced wheel(s).

When getting the two tyres (put better set on the rear), have them balance the other two wheels as well.

There is a 2003 C5 on donedeal (the only one) with a 15 month NCT for €680

Warts and all I'd not look for more than €500

Shuddering is definitely due to wheel balancing.
Most tyre places can't balance the C5 wheels because there is no centre hole in the wheel, they need to use an adaptor which they may or may not have, also some C5's are 4 nut and some are 5 nut wheels.
As you know the best thing about the C5 is the ride comfort with the suspension.
