Got it (SFP) but the DAS was delayed through no fault of mine. The ship was taking in water already - lucky the money did come in when it did .
It seems to me that these delays have become Departmental policy - there is now much more 'reasons' (substitute with excuses) for them to withhold/slow payment.
I think it's time for John Dillon to come out of retirement and rattle a few cages.

My auld lad has a theory that he trots out every so often. He reckons "why would they want to get rid of all the cash when they can hold into it and make more interest."

Can't see how they could hold you to it if they're not paying you for it TBH.

With over 30% of all votes not getting paid I'm surprised there's not more noise from IFA and the other farm bodies

Over a month since the dept. were due to start making payments and I hope everyone has got their payment at this stage.

Did anyone get a letter from said dept. regards the hold up or over claim on a land parcel? I was told they were sending letters out to those affected when I rang inquiring about my payment but haven't received any correspondence yet.

No payment or letter here yet, I ring them one a week for a chat and get a different story each time as to the cause of my non payment. I did manage to get through to someone who seemed to know what he was talking about this week so fingers crossed I may have my first instalment by the time everyone else is getting their second!!

That's an unacceptable position to still be in. And goes to show the disregard that some of the civil service in the dept. of Ag. have for the farming sector. If they got a hint that their pay was to be cut or delayed they'd have their beardy weirdy union rep calling for a strike

Most of those union fellas have beards alright and pronounce workers as wuuurrrkkeeers.
I suppose there is a mentality that if you are sitting across the table from an alpha male that you will make concessions. It must be working for them. :D:D:D:D

Still nothing at this stage, and no correspondence either.

    Apologies for being vague:cool::cool::cool:
I have ascended to a position on a farming organisation within the county, nothing to get excited over. We had our AGM recently and "our president" was in attendance to deliver his address. I put it to him during questions from the floor that "our organisation" as well as the other farming organisations were remaining very quiet over the debacle leaving around 20000 farmers unpaid. That equated to 1 in 6 farmers not receiving payment nor any notification of a issue arising. (To date I'm still not aware of any correspondence from the Dept. to any individual affected.)

Anyway altho the attendance was small there was a handful of those in attendance without payment. "Our president" noted thepoint and said he'd investigate. I thought no more of it.

Two days later I was contacted by "our Handler" who had been in turn contacted by "our president", what they had discerned was the delay in processing was down to the dept. staff taking a months annual leave en masse during the summer. Stilldoesn't excuse them given they'd still have 4 months left to process applications from the deadline of submission to the first payment date. Which is still not acceptable since they are being paid handsomely to do a job.

Alas I honestly believed that some farming body would highlight this situation. Even the Beano seems to be avoiding raising the issue

The EU have discovered that 7% of irish farmers have major overclaims on their applications and 18% have minor overclaims. This has also happened in other countries and they have penalised all farmers but the irish dept are just penalising the offending farmers.......which is only right as 75% got it right, but its taking a bit of time.
As of last Thursday there's 116000 out of 123000 paid.
Don't know where you got your story

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,729 ✭✭✭lefthooker

I'm taking figures that were published in the Farming Independent on 5th Nov. since they were relevant at the time. 103000 paid from 123000 applicants.

Re overclaims I had one myself but that was down to the dept. redigitising maps again. What gets me is that I always use the figures that the dept. supplies on their maps yet they go and change the figures nearly annually and tell me I made the mistake. Last year it was done in reverse, I got notification in June of a change due to redigitisation and had it rectified swiftly

Technology is improving all the time, They know now whether the land is grazed or if there's rock overground and what percentage, some farmers here will get a bill in the post instead of a cheque.
Eu have done this audit this time round, and they're insisting on penalties going back 5 years

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 451 ✭✭Milton09

Exactly a month since a ground inspection and still not a hint of any payment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 588 ✭✭✭Justjens

Been cleared for payment, although with another .9HA chipped off, a lot is due to their discrepancy with digitised maps from one year to the next. Luckily no penalty but have still challenged them on their figures, what are my chances?

If you are being held up due to satellite inspection ring the bas*ards in Kildare St. 01 6072000 or 01 6072026 and ask for [SNIP]

Keep at them until they are sick of listening to us.

    Mod Note

I don't think it is fair to name individuals

phase two is meant to be in bank account in the morning , i only got the first payment last week , and area based payment it was held up till now because prick of a landlord tried to back fire on a lease that runs for another 2 years in the end i got my way with him but the hassle he put me through

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 826 ✭✭✭ABlur

I suppose its unlikely I'll get the second payment as I haven't got the first yet!
